PDCE Courses

All PDCE courses are 18-unit courses with the exception of the World Language and Math Courses, which are available as either 18- or 36-unit courses. Eighteen-unit courses earn 4.5 CEUs, and 36-unit courses earn 9 CEUs. Courses are requiring an additional course fee indicated by an asterisk (*) after the course title.

World Languages

  • French I 36-unit course
    Develop knowledge and skills to begin communicating in French

  • French II 36-unit course
    Participate in simple conversational situations using sentences and groups of sentences

  • French III 36-unit course
    Initiate and sustain conversations by making statements, asking questions, and giving appropriate responses

  • French IV 36-unit course
    Speak and write the target language using coherent paragraphs

  • Latin I 36-unit course
    Develop knowledge and skills to begin communicating in Latin

  • Spanish I 36-unit course
    Develop knowledge and skills to begin communicating in Spanish

  • Spanish II 36-unit course
    Participate in simple conversational situations using sentences and groups of sentences

  • Spanish III 36-unit course

  • American Sign Language I 36-unit course
    Introduction to knowledge and understanding of vocabulary, grammar structure, other ASL language features, culture, as well as be able to hold a simple conversation

    Extend your knowledge of the structure and fundamentals of the language as well as cultural awareness

  • Business Math I 18-unit course
    Learn to use math concepts in real-world situations

  • Computer Applications 18-unit course
    Explore the evolution of the computer and the contributions of many early inventors

  • Introduction to the Internet 18-unit course
    Learn to use the Internet for school and personal reasons 

  • Microsoft Excel* 18-unit course
    This course will cover the main features of Microsoft’s Excel software

  • Microsoft PowerPoint* 18-unit course
    This course has been designed to help you learn to use the main features of Microsoft’s PowerPoint software

  • Microsoft Word 18-unit course
    Microsoft Word is a computer program that will help you create documents and communicate your thoughts more effectively
     
  • Digital Skills 18-unit course
    Skills needed to be successful as digital citizens in a global economy

  • Marketing Basics 18-unit course
    Topics that will be discussed throughout this course will include understanding what
    marketing is, promotion, mission statements, pricing, advertising, decision-making,
    digital marketing, developing new ideas, supply chains, sales, and customer relationship
    management

  • Art History 18-unit course
    Learn to use the elements of art and the principles of design

  • Greek Mythology 18-unit course
    Myths focusing on major Greek gods, goddesses, and heroes

  • Renaissance Art 18-unit course

  • Music Appreciation 18-unit course
    The music and culture from each designated period in the timeline of music history

  • History of Rock-n-Roll 18-unit course
    In The History of Rock and Roll, students will begin the course with a brief lesson in basic
    music terminology that will help them understand the development of this American
    popular music genre

  • History of Jazz 18-unit course
    In The History of Jazz, students will begin the course with a brief lesson in basic music
    terminology that will help them understand the development of this American popular 
    music genre 

  Family Consumer Science

  • Family Living 18-unit course
    Budgeting, writing checks, and examining consumer issues will prepare you for working with finances

  • Financial Literacy 18-unit course
    Learn personal financial planning, budgeting, banking, using credit wisely, how to protect your money, making money, consumerism, investing and philanthropy

  • Child Development 18-unit course
    Many careers available today touch on some facet of child development.  This course will
    briefly touch on some of these professions, looking at what is involved and the training
    necessary.

     Step-by-step through the process, from applying to accepting to keeping your next job

  •        Medical Terminology 18-unit course
     Define medical terminology, discuss memorization tips and strategies, discuss the four
     parts of medical terms, recognize word roots, combining forms, suffixes and prefixes

            This course will prepare students to take the ACT. The textbooks, Essential Skills
            Required for College and Career Readiness Student Text, 13th Edition and Victory
            for the ACT Test, 13th Edition from Cambridge Educational Services, accompany this 
            course.

  •          ACT WorkKeys 18-unit course

            Learn critical test-taking tips and strategies for developing study skills.

  •          AIR American Government 18-unit course

            Explore the government of the United States of America. How the American people
            govern themselves at national, state, and local levels of government is the basis for
            this course. 

  •          AIR American History 18-unit course

            Examine the history of the United States of America from 1877 to the present

  •          AIR English Grade 7 36-unit course

            This course is set up to prepare for the AIR 7th Grade English Language Arts
