Families are a vital part of a child's development and education. In order to encourage familial engagement, participants will be encouraged to reflect on current practices, cultural humility, personal bias, and strategies for engagement. Additionally, participants will identify the benefits of true engagement and how it differs from involvement and also identify ideas to help families engage.

12:00pm-2:30pm Prescriptions for Preventing Power Struggles

Participants will be able to distinguish between four goals of misbehavior and be able to identify when power struggles occur. Strategies to empower children to avoid power struggles and strategies and a script to detach and solve power struggles will be presented.
