Requirements to obtain a license:
Students who are under the age of 18 must complete the following to be considered for a drivers license.
- Driver must complete a driver education class at a licensed driver training school, which includes 24 hours of classroom or online instruction and 8 hours of driving time.
- A Driver Education Certificate must be provided at time of Driving and Skills testing.
- Driver must complete 50 hours of driving, with at least 10 hours of night driving, in addition to the driver education requirements.
- Driver must hold a temporary driving permit for at least six months.
- Driver must pass the Driving and Skills tests.

- Make sure to bring your temporary permit, a vehicle in good condition, and your Driver Education Certificate, to your driving and skills test appointment.
**A new law was passed by the State of OH on June 30 and will take effect on September 30,2025. Please read the update below regarding the new OH Drivers Education state law. It is important to start educating customers now who are approaching the age of 18.**

- Under 18:
- If you are under 18, you must complete 24 hours of classroom instruction, 8 hours of driving with an instructor, and 50 hours of practice driving with a parent or guardian (including 10 at night). You also must hold your permit for at least six months.
- Over 18:
- If you are 18 or older, you are not required to hold your permit for six months. You still need to complete the driver's education course, but the waiting period for the permit does not apply.
